Lamb dips to 537c/kg

AT THE conclusion of Monday’s markets the eastern states restocker lamb indicator finished 39c down on last week, settling at 537c/kg cwt.

Merino lambs were 12c lower on 457c, and light lambs were down 30c on 502c/kg cwt. Trade lambs lost 10c to 515c and heavy lamb prices were 2c cheaper on 502c/kg cwt. Mutton prices were 7c lower on 378¢/kg cwt.

Lamb numbers reduced at Dubbo and quality was mixed. New season trade lambs sold from $120 to $149, lifting $4 to $6/head. Old trade lambs ranged from $110 to $138 to be $4 to $6/head higher or averaging 539c/kg cwt. Medium weight Merino ewes ranged from $80 to $124/head.

Lamb supply fell at Bendigo and overall quality was mixed with the yarding consisting of predominantly crossbreds. New season trade lambs ranged from $96 to $138 to be unchanged to $2/head cheaper or from 465c to 525c/kg cwt. Older Trade lambs ranged from $95 to $115 to be $4/head cheaper.
