Lamb up 8c to 545c/kg

At the conclusion of Monday’s markets the eastern states restocker lamb indicator increased 8¢ on last week, settling at 545¢/kg cwt. Merino lambs were 19¢ lower on 438¢, and light lambs eased 1¢ – to 501¢/kg cwt. Trade lambs lost 13¢ – to 502¢ and heavy lambs were 12¢ lower on 490¢/kg cwt. Mutton prices finished 12¢ cheaper on 366¢/kg cwt.

Lamb numbers increased at Dubbo and quality remained good with some well finished trade lambs yarded. New season trade lambs sold from $110 to $145, averaging $9 to $11/head cheaper. Old trade lambs ranged from $100 to $132 to be $6 to $9/head lower or averaging 497¢ to 504¢/kg cwt. Medium weight Merino ewes ranged from $68 to $118/head.

Lamb supply fell at Bendigo and overall quality varied depending on weight. New season trade lambs ranged from $109 to $134 to be $3 to $7/head cheaper. Young heavy weight lambs ranged from $130 to $141 to be $7/head cheaper and mainly selling from 478¢ to 504¢/kg cwt.
